This Chrome finish alternator has an internal voltage regulator.

1 or 3 wire hookup with a main post for battery connection and flat blade terminals for field wire and voltage sensing wire. Comes with a one groove bolt on V-belt pulley. High output, great for today's increased ignition, sound, and accessory power demands. No more dim or pulsating dash and headlights with that old tired stock unit! With the optional 3 wire hookup, that will allow it to operate providing numerous advantages such as.

Allows use of dash warning (idiot) light plus volt gauge can be added. Running voltage sensing wire to a common firewall power distribution junction produces optimum results. Maintains more accurate voltage by compensating for voltage drops. Optimizes state of charge and improved overall battery life.

This alternator is a direct replacement on 1968 to 1982 GM vehicles that had internal regulator alternators. This will also work on GM vehicles prior to 1968. ONE WIRE TO THE BATTERY IS ALL THAT IS NEEDED ON THIS MODEL, OR YOU MAY HOOK IT UP AS OEM ALT HOOKED UP ON 73 MODELS UP TO APPROX.

This unit hooks up exactly as the OEM unit does. For those wanting to use this alternator as a direct replacement on a GM vehicle, you will remove the square plug in the side of the alt.

Case by hand, and your existing two wire harness will plug directly into the alt. You will also hook up the alt. Cable that usually comes from the positive side of your battery to the back of the alt. Cable is usually a 10 gauge wire that splits off from the large heavy positive battery cable.
